Pina Colada Smoothie

 

Piña colada is the national cocktail of Puerto Rico. This is also a favorite of Antoine as it gathers ingredients that he loves: coconut and pineapple. Always looking for new smoothie ideas, Cavita came up with this virgin version that brings out the taste of the cocktail while providing the vitamins and minerals that will help you go through your day without the rum. 

 

Let's Get Blending! This recipe is for two medium servings.

 

INGREDIENTS
 
  • 4 dates, pitted

  • 1 cup of coconut water

  • 1 cup of frozen pineapple chunks

  • 1 cup of frozen coconut chunks

  • 1/2 cup of spinach leaves

 

DIRECTIONS

 

  1. Freeze ahead of time your fruits or purchase frozen fruits. This will give you a nice smoothie texture. If you use ice, you risk getting your smoothie too diluted. 

  2. Add everything to your blending device and blend until smooth. Keep liquid and soft things to the bottom when preparing to blend. If you have a tamper, use it to ease the blend process.

  3. Pour into a glass and top the smoothie with hemp hearts for some crunch. Enjoy!
